2017 Agnihotra Equinox Event

Equinox fire, from Jolanda Stots, Netherlands
Some years ago we started a Global Sacred Fire Event during the Equinox period, and it was a great success. So many people around the world had joined and Agnihotra fires moved around the planet at sunrise and sunset. This year we repeated this wonderful experience, creating a grid of Sacred Fires all around the world, to help build a critical mass to elevate consciousness on planet Earth.

On Spring and Autumn Equinoxes, the sun rises exactly in the East and sets in the West. That is why we have nearly exactly twelve hours of darkness and twelve hours of light on Equinox days. Both are especially important days to perform sunrise and sunset Agnihotra. Only on these two days are sunrise and sunset timings nearly identical regardless of where one is situated on Earth, if on the same longitude. (We suggested the dates from 21st to 23rd September so that for all continents the exact time of Equinox would be covered.)

With enough people performing Agnihotra wherever they are on Earth, this creates a powerful grid of Sacred Agnihotra Fires burning all the time, moving around the world along with sunrise and sunset.

Next year, we will invite participants to send a photo, if possible, of themselves and/or their Equinox fire, so that we can show more of our worldwide Agnihotra network in Satsang.
